Nebiroll 5 mg Tablet is a third-generation beta-1 selective adrenergic blocker with additional nitric oxide (NO)-mediated vasodilatory effects. This unique dual mechanism reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand while simultaneously promoting vasodilation and improving arterial compliance. Compared to older beta-blockers, Nebivolol has a more favorable safety profile, causing less fatigue, fewer metabolic side effects, and minimal impact on sexual function. The 5 mg strength is the standard therapeutic dose used in adults for managing hypertension and certain cardiac conditions. By improving endothelial function and reducing oxidative stress, Nebivolol provides additional cardiovascular protection beyond simple blood pressure control, making it especially useful in patients with comorbid conditions such as diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and bradycardia (slow heart rate). Some patients may experience mild gastrointestinal disturbances, sleep disturbances, or cold extremities. Rare but serious adverse effects include severe hypotension, worsening of heart failure, atrioventricular block, or bronchospasm in sensitive individuals. Compared to non-selective beta-blockers, Nebivolol has a lower risk of respiratory and metabolic side effects.
Nebivolol 5 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensives. It is also used in selected patients with stable chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) as part of a comprehensive management plan.
Nebivolol 5 mg should be used only under medical supervision. It is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, or severe liver impairment. Caution is required in patients with asthma, COPD, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders. The dose should not be stopped abruptly, as sudden discontinuation can cause rebound hypertension or exacerbate angina and heart failure. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a physician after careful risk assessment. Alcohol consumption should be limited, as it can potentiate the blood pressure-lowering effect and increase dizziness. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and overall cardiac status is essential during long-term therapy.
Store Nebivolol 5 mg Tablet in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original packaging and out of the reach of children. Do not use the medication beyond the expiry date printed on the strip or container.
